My 4 A's Lesson Plan

I.              OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to;
·         Read the story;
·         Sequence the story according  to order; and
·         Create a summary of the story using chain of events.
II.            SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Beowulf, Robin Hood, Trojan War
Materials: Projector, Cartolina, Manila paper, scotch tape, markers

1.    Activity
4 pic 1 word
a.)  The class will be grouped into three by counting off.
b.)  The teacher will present 4 pictures to guess what the scrambled letters mean.
c.)   Each group will answer using the black illustration board provided by the teacher.
d.)  Each group has only 10 seconds to answer each of the following sets of pictures, after the timer runs out, their black illustration board with their answers must be raised to be recognized. Failure in raising their black illustration boards on time will result to invalid answers.
e.)  The group with the most number of correct answers wins.
2.    Analysis
·         How did you find the activity?
·         Was it hard for you to guess the words? Yes or no? Why or why not?
·         What have you noticed on your answers in our activity?
·         For the winning group what made you win in our little game today? What is your secret?

3.    Abstraction
·         Using the same group, the students will read a jumbled up story.
They have 5 minutes to read the story.
·         Each group are then asked to arrange their respective stories in front of the class with the use of a visual aid provided by the teacher.
·         Are the series of events correct?
·         What hints made you arrange the story?
4.    Application
·         Using the same group, the students are to create their own summary of the story assigned to them using the chain of events.
·         They are given 5 minutes to summarize the story.
·         Students are to write their summary on a cartolina provided by the teacher.
·         The students are to post and report their work on the board.
IV.          ASSESSMENT
·         Each group will need two representatives one will read their work and one will use sign language to interpret.
·         The students’ work and performance will be rated according to the following rubrics:

No cooperation from the group as observed by the teacher

Content
There are no utilization of signal words for chain of evens
There are few clue words to be found in their story
There are many clue words of sequence in the story.
Clue words of chain of events were utilized properly to pattern the sequence
Humour
The interpreter is not very humorous and the actions are not proper for the class audience
The interpreter manages to show some humour to the class
The interpreter creates laughter in the class yet some are not amused
Everyone in the class are entertained
Delivery
The reader is not catching attention for retention
The reader was able to catch the attention of others
The reader was able to catch many of his/her classmates’ attention
The reader was able to catch the attention of all of his/her classmates’ attention and was able to work in unison with the interpreter


V.           ASSIGNMENT

Research a song and that can be related to the story Beowulf.  Write the lyrics in a one whole sheet of paper and download the song in your phone.
